Summer is usually a great time for long-awaited projects to drop, as well as mixtapes from new artists trying to make a splash on the scene. This summer is no exception to that rule, as June 18th will be quite a big day for the genre. Three of the biggest names in Hip-Hop are all dropping albums, as well as a producer who has earned a name off making great collaboration tracks from high-profile artists.
Mac Miller will be releasing Watching Movies With the Sound Off, J. Cole will be releasing Born Sinner, Kanye West will be releasing Yeezus (yes, that is the name), and Statik Selektah will be releasing Extended Play.
For me (as well as a lot of you out there), all four of these projects will be enjoyed to an immense degree. Which one will have the best album? Who knows. Honestly, I expect different things from each of these albums. Mac Miller and J. Cole have room to improve with Sophomore efforts, Kanye has a possible classic in the making, and Statik Selektah is almost guaranteed to make an entertaining album with plenty of good party music.
On the day of June 18th, as well as the next couple days after that, I will be giving extensive reviews of each. Stay tuned, and I hope you enjoy these as much as I will.
